Well, it’s mostly because I don’t have the time to sit at my computer and read. Most of the time I have is away from a computer, hence my support for e-readers that would make reading such titles easier. But it’s really the number of books that I’m trying to cut down. I have no problem with loads of digital files, as long as I can read them anywhere.

Why not go on online manga databases where the manga is already uploaded. Like http://www.onemanga.com or http://www.mangafox.com, it could help you save money. Though this may not help your addiction and contradicts my original reason for coming to this blog (which was to find out how to stop this addiction myself).

hi i get my mangas from bookdepository.com they are really cheap there ive only been collecting them since november of last year but i already have around 45. anyway the mana are around 4.50 pounds there

wow, i used to have a simaler problem as well, but i relized that i only red them a couple of times, its not like i red them once a month. but the internet is a really gret place to read manga, try onemanga.com or the-evil-empire.net thats an amazing site. but i still have my babys that i have to buy, that i refuse to read online, (like godchild, and pet shops of horrors!) or that i cant find online(battel angel alita). all i can say is if you dont mind reading them online then do so if you can. if you cant bere to not have them in your hands then get them. if you go to anime cons they will have amazing deals like 2 books for $7 or something. if you have a larger series this is a great way to get books cheep. you may not find the volume your curently on but you will get to the purchased volume eventually.

Wow, over 600, that’s alot. I’m also addicted to manga and Dragon Knights was my first series too! I’m very careful about what series to get. If I see a series I’d like, I do a search on it on Wikipedia first and look at how many volumes it lasts. That way I don’t end up getting a 40+ volume series. It also tells me if a series has stopped being translated. I did that after finding out that descendants of darkness had gone on haitus. When I finally buy a house, I’m going to have one room turned into a privrate library with nothing but shelves full of manga in it. *sigh* It will be awesome.

11: I have a hard time letting go too…but I do look at some of the series’ and think “you know, that one wasn’t as great as I thought…” It makes letting go a little easier.

Brian: Yes. Build another. It will balance out the room with one on each side of the wall.

dkong: Well, I have dropped Bleach, sort of. Since it’s in Shonen Jump now, I’m not going to buy the story twice. I’d have twice as much manga if I actually bought all the series’ I read in Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat. But…I gotta keep Inuyasha. I know it’s at volume 54 in Japan, but since it comes out at a slower rate, every 4 months I think, it doesn’t grow as fast.

Well, I know a few things that you could do to cut down: lay off the garbage and the 40+ volume series…
So no Bleach, no Inuyasha, etc….

When I built you that shelf, it should have taken you forever to fill it, I figured it held about 500 manga and you only had maybe 150 at the time. Now it’s spilled all over the house!

Looks like time to build another shelf!

I have a lot of manga too. I actually took over my b/f’s IKEA shelf. I don’t know if I could sell most of them. I’ve briefly thought about it and then changed my mind. It’s really hard now because there’s so much more manga getting on the shelves nowadays. Just when you think you’ve caught up a new series comes out. More series are coming out than series are ending.
