I wish there were more political manga out there. I’ve really been enjoying Eagle. I’ll have to search out First President when I have money again.

I’m glad you liked the books. I was little nervous since I haven’t read them, but they do look good.

Sorry, the title is “The First President of Japan”. It was published by Gutsoon!, and was 4 volumes long. It’s not easy finding sets of this series either, but then, none of the Gutsoon! books are easy to find, 5 years after they stopped publishing.

I kind of wish that Kaiji Kawaguchi would write a sequel. I kind of want to know if the president-elect would keep his promises, you know. It looks like there are some used on amazon. I promise I don’t get any kick back from amazon. I was just curious so I searched around a bit.

I wonder why viz hasn’t reprinted this series as it was intended (left to right).

It’s 5 Big volumes that are compilations of the original printings. Be careful. I nearly got snagged with ordering what I thought was a compilation, and it turned out to be the small one.

I found my 1-4 on Ebay, so good luck to you. I grew up in a house that was very political, so I’ve always had an interest in it. When I started reading this, I didn’t know it was going to have so many similarities to the current campaign until I got into it, and it is just a really good drama!

You’ve really piqued my interest with this review, Lori! This series wasn’t on my radar screen at all, and now I’m going to be trawling eBay to scare up some copies. Are there more than five volumes?

I never knew anything about it until I heard and episode of Anime World Order podcast that talked about it. I started looking for it, and it hasn’t been an easy find. At least, not at a decent price. I’ve gotten Volumes 1-4, and I’m still looking for 5.

And you go and spoil the end for me… I wish there were more political dramas like this available. The only other one I know of I President of Japan. I guess I should be happy to at least get these. More Kawaguchi would be so awesome though.

I just want to chime in that this manga is one of the first few manga that I read way back. The first was Adolf. I enjoyed this one very much. We all know how it ends based on the title – but that doesn’t stop one from turning the page, you know. I reread it once in awhile. It’s time for me to reread it again. Thanks for the reminder.
