Thanks Grant!
Jacob, This was just a fangirl squeel article. I have full reviews of all the titles in my Review archive. You can go there for more details about the books.
Kate, I have Phoenix 2-3 (2 thanks to Julie) and they are on my very long to read list. I'm always keeping my eye out for the others vol. though!
Brian, ah, the joys of having been in the fandom before it was popular. I wish I had been more versed in it then, then I wouldn't just be discovering these things now!

I was lucky enough to have met him several times and he was the nicest person you'd ever want to know. I remember when a bunch of people went out to dinner with him, he had along a translator through which he communicated, even though he spoke excellent English, but it allowed him to be choosy about what he responded to and what he didn't. That was maybe a year or two before he passed away and he's still missed. He really was a great guy, even beyond his created works.

You have to read Phoenix! It will blow your mind -- it's by far his best work, both in terms of art and in terms of story. You don't need to read Phoenix in any particular order (save vols. 7-8 and 10-11, which are two-part stories), though it's fascinating to read them in their published order and watch his storytelling evolve.

Osamu Tezuka died the exact year before I was born. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered his works in late high school, wanted to meet him, only to discover I was born a year too late.

He's a huge influence on my writing, I once tried to illustrate my books but my drawing sucks. So they'll just try to shape ideas with words I guess.

I really liked this article, but it could have gone more in depth about each of the works other than just fanboy/girl squeeing over them. But considering what the article was trying to do, that's just fine.

I enjoyed this! I am currently working through Tezuka's Swallowing the Earth and enjoying it hugely - I think I'll go back and get Ode to Kirihito next. Hopefully more of his 1960s-70s work will get translated in the next year!
