I would also pick Wendy Pini as I love the Elfquest series and to go a bit off field I would also recommend Kodaka Kazuma who is a noted Yaoi Mangaka. Yaoi as you may or may not know revolves around ‘Boys-Love’ which is in essence homosexual themes which are a very popular genre in Japan. She has influenced many Western Yaoi artists whose works can be found on Amazon.

I love Wendy Pini’s art and Elfquest. It was the first comic series I started reading regularly, even before all the Marvel and manga.

Great entry. I would also mention Wendy Pini, for Elfquest. An ancient American comic title in this new age of manga, ie the 1980s. She’s always stated manga having a great influence in her work and the Japanese honored her for this.
