I really feel that Sebastian was just too perfect as a character. He doesn’t seem to have any rules or limits on his supernatural powers. Superman is incredibly fast and nearly invincible, but he has flaws which place limits on his powers; he’s weakened by Kryptonite, and also will grow weak if not exposed to yellow sunlight for a long period of time. Sebastian doesn’t seem to have such limits, and Toboso seems to grant him powers on a whim. Super speed? Ultimate knife-throwing accuracy? The ability to manipulate time? Sure, why not?

Ciel, on the other hand, feels like little more than a perpetual damsel in distress character; pre-women’s lib Lois Lane to Sebastian’s Superman.

As a whole, it just wasn’t that interesting to me. It didn’t seem to present to me anything I hadn’t seen done before, and better.
