The Picks:<\/strong>
\nAlex Hoffman\u2019s Pick: Wow, what a list! Viz has some excellent releases, and Kodansha has continued some of my favorite series from the Del Rey line, which is exciting. Still, with all this great mainstream manga being released this week, I will pick the more indie title from Fantagraphics and choose Wandering Son, Vol. 1<\/strong>. I\u2019m a sucker for slice-of-life, and Matt Thorn doesn\u2019t get involved in a project if it isn\u2019t worth your time. Honorable mention to Kimi ni Todoke<\/em>, which, besides Otomen<\/em>, is my favorite shojo series currently in print.<\/p>\n

John\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> It is great to see such a healthy list this week. That being said, it is hard to pick a clear winner. Alex has hit a lot of great highlights, but I was reminded this week of one of the reasons I got back into manga, and I am glad to see and applaud any attention to Death Note<\/strong>. It may be a gateway drug, and it may be an imperfect manga overall (what isn\u2019t?), but it has gotten a lot of people excited about the medium that is manga, and I hope these pretty reissues can keep it up.<\/p>\n

Justin\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> I\u2019ve been waiting for Wandering Son<\/strong> ever since it was announced, so I\u2019m excited it\u2019s finally here. I, too, am glad Kodansha is continuing the Del Rey series. My question is, will they ever re-issue the Del Rey volumes? I missed a few volumes of Sayonara Zetsubo-Sensei<\/em> and you certainly can\u2019t get them from Del Rey anymore!<\/p>\n

Connie\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> It\u2019s hard for me to ignore new volumes of Dengeki Daisy<\/em> and Skip Beat<\/em>, which are two of my absolute favorite shoujo series at the moment. \u00a0And I can\u2019t say enough good things about Wandering Son<\/em>, which is a strange and wonderful book. \u00a0But since everyone else is already talking about that one, I think I might pick Toradora<\/strong>, the first volume of which was far better than I expected from what sounded like a straightforward romantic comedy.<\/p>\n

Amy\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> I am jumping on the band wagon with my pick for this week: Wandering Son<\/strong>! Ever since it was announced for release I have been anxiously awaiting it\u2019s release. Also worth mentioning is a favorite of mine Chi\u2019s Sweet Home<\/em>! Really nice to see so much manga goodness being released in a single week.<\/p>\n

Lori\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> I miss the days of indecision when there were too many books to choose from! Viz already has money from me for Dengeki Daisy<\/em> and Kimi ni Todoke<\/em>, but my pick is going to the new Kodansha series Monster Hunter Orage<\/strong>. It by the same creator as Fairy Tail<\/em> and Rave Master<\/em> (that series so deserves a new translation!). And even though it\u2019s based on a video game, I\u2019ve heard good things about the story. I can\u2019t wait to get my copy!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
