The Picks:<\/strong><\/p>\n

John\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> We are just a couple of volumes away from the completion of Black Jack<\/strong>, which makes each of these final volumes about everyone\u2019s favorite renegade doctor a special treat.<\/p>\n

Alex\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> There is quite a bit of content out from Viz Media this week, and I\u2019m interested in both Otomen<\/strong> and Kaze Hikaru<\/strong>, which are both from their Shojo Beat line. I also admit that I\u2019m curious about Tank Tankuro<\/em> from Presspop Inc, a new kid on the manga block, but I am not sure that I have $30 worth of curious.<\/p>\n

Justin\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> I\u2019ve become super-cranky of late: here\u2019s two releases I\u2019ve been looking forward to, but… First, Tank Tankuro<\/em> looks really interesting from a historical perspective, but I\u2019m with Alex. From what I\u2019ve seen in previews, it\u2019s just not impressive enough for me to plunk down $30 for it (that price and the Chris Ware cover should tell you it\u2019s not so much manga as an art object). Second, I was very frustrated with the first omnibus of Cardcaptor Sakura<\/em>, because the paper is thin, the book feels like the spine will split any moment, and the reproduction of CLAMP\u2019s art is too light and wispy. Maybe I\u2019ll console myself with Black Jack<\/strong> or Slam Dunk<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

Amy\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> Oh there is such a nice haul from Viz this week! Though there is some shojo that I\u2019d like to snag this week I\u2019m most stoked about the next volume of Blue Exorcist<\/strong>! I\u2019ve been hooked since the beginning so I can\u2019t wait to see what Rin and the gang are up to.<\/p>\n

Lori’s Pick:<\/strong> Once again Viz is getting the lion’s share of my paycheck this week, but the title I’m most looking forward to is Story of Saiunkoku<\/strong>. It has the perfect balance of beautiful art, engaging characters, and great story. It will always find a place on my crowded bookshelf!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
