Bandai Entertainment releases the first volume based on the franchise Tales of the Abyss<\/em>, while Udon Entertainment releases the next volume of Gigamix<\/em> from the Mega Man<\/em> franchise. Viz brings out their monthly batch of Shonen Sunday titles along with the US version of rival magazine Shonen Jump<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Picks:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Connie\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> I\u2019m torn this week between the VizBig Inu-Yasha volume 8<\/strong> and Maoh: Juvenile Remix<\/strong> this week. \u00a0I am absolutely loving the Inu-Yasha<\/em> re-issue, and I think the three-volume chunks are the perfect size for consuming the highly addictive action series. \u00a0But I\u2019ve been intrigued by the last few volumes of Maoh<\/em>, too, and it has a somewhat more substantial story going for it. \u00a0I\u2019m not quite up to 6 yet, but I\u2019ve really enjoyed the themes about group mentality and urban sprawl. \u00a0It\u2019s definitely unusual.<\/p>\n

Alex\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> Connie has some good points, but I am actually more interested in Deltora Quest<\/strong> than I am in re-reading Inu Yasha<\/em> (which is great, don\u2019t get me wrong). I am not sure if the series will have what it takes to succeed with the current shonen manga market, but I am willing to give it a try.<\/p>\n

John\u2019s Pick: <\/strong>I am the predictable sort, especially when it\u2019s a week with Gantz<\/strong> on the list. I am reminded I am a couple volumes behind. Time to get caught up!<\/p>\n

Justin\u2019s Pick: <\/strong>I\u2019m secretly a little girl, and I\u2019m glad Kodansha is continuing the series I Am Here<\/strong>. I\u2019m not actually a little girl, but my 3rd grade daughter is an avid manga reader. This means I have to really search to find manga that avoids sex and fanservice, but is interesting and sophisticated and well-done. I Am Here is, so far, just that kind of series. There\u2019s also series on the list for a grown man this week, and the last volume of Ikigami The Ultimate Limit<\/strong> is the book I\u2019ll be picking up.<\/p>\n

Lori\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> My daughter was a fan of the Deltora series when she was in Middle school, so Deltora Quest<\/strong> from Kodansha is must, both for my daughter and me. I want to read it now too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
