It\u2019s…not much of a list again, so while we present this week\u2019s releases, our picks are in honor of the Manga Movable Feast this week, which is all about Rumiko Takahashi\u2019s works. Enjoy as our reviews pick their all-time favorite Takahashi title.<\/p>\n

The Picks:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amy\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> My all time favorite pick from Rumiko Takahashi is Inuyasha<\/strong>! Haters gonna hate but this is my first shonen series, let alone first manga that I ever picked up, so it will always have a special place in my heart!<\/p>\n

Connie\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> I gotta go with Mermaid Saga<\/strong>, myself. \u00a0I read it when I was in high school and never forgot it. \u00a0After reading so much else by her, it\u2019s strange that it\u2019s a straight-up horror manga, but the themes of gore and mermaids never looked so good together. \u00a0Add in the sensitive look at what it really means to be immortal, and I\u2019m hooked forever. \u00a0I keep hoping she\u2019ll go back to it one day, like One Pound Gospel<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Justin\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> C\u2019mon Amy, nobody\u2019s going to hate; how could anyone hate anything by Takahashi? The trend here is first loves, I think: for me, it\u2019s a swirly mix of Ranma \u00bd<\/strong> and her Rumic World<\/strong> short stories. Released waaaay back in the late 80\u2019s-early 90\u2019s, I picked it up because I had missed out on the Lum<\/em> stuff I\u2019d seen here and there. Now that\u2019s a series I\u2019d love to see properly reprinted (I missed the Animerica \u201cReturn of Lum\u201d material in the 90\u2019s).<\/p>\n

Lori\u2019s Pick: <\/strong>If it\u2019s first loves, then I have to go with Urusei Yatsura<\/strong>. I bought all of the floppies Viz put out (which are now sadly lost to time). I was indoctrinated with the anime, and couldn\u2019t wait to get a hold of the source material, incomplete as it was. I too would love to see a proper reprint of Urusei Yatsura\/Lum.<\/em> While \u201cthe kids today\u201d may not appreciate the older art and wacky comedy, Urusei Yatsura<\/em> has a very special place in our hearts for us old school 80s fans.<\/p>\n

Alex\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> I\u2019ll be the sap of the group and pick Maison Ikkoku<\/strong> – it\u2019s a love story that has a lot of great strengths and shows that Takahashi can do just about anything she sets her mind to – whether or not she chooses to do shonen comedy, romance, or horror, she\u2019s a great creator. I would love to see Viz reprint it, or publish it on their Viz manga app – it\u2019s a series that has a lot going for it, but the books are really hard to find since it has been out of print for a while.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
