The Picks:

Justin’s Pick: This is really a week to dig in to your favorite ongoing manga. Viz is getting a run for its money–only the likes of Kodansha could take on Viz head on the way they have (which is not to slight Yen, it’s just that Yen has wrestled for market share in non-traditional ways). I say that because, as much as I like Slam Dunk and Vampire Knight (the stand-outs in this week’s vampire glut), I have to look to Kodansha for my pick: Fairy Tail has always been one of my guilty pleasures, but in a toss-up I’m going with Negima–Kodansha’s better translations, coupled with this series really hitting it’s stride in the second three books (of which this omnibus comprises), makes it my pick of the week.

Alex’s Pick: For what it’s worth, I have been really enjoying Blue Exorcist, which is a great shonen action story coupled with some beautiful visuals and fun action. The series plays out better than I could have ever hoped based on the first volume, and now I am clamoring for more. I’m also interested in Psyren, which is a title that’s been in the wings for quite some time now.

Amy’s Pick: Lots of great titles being released this week, nice to see another volume of Blue Exorcist but this week I’m stoked for My Boyfriend is a Vampire. I love gender bender stories, especially when its two volumes in one!

Lori’s Pick: I look at this list and see a lot of ongoing titles that I will get, mostly from Viz, such as Bakuman and Natsume’s Book of Friends. But Seven Seas gets my pick this week. Dracula Everlasting is being put up one page at a time three times a week at Zoom Comics, but I don’t have the patience. It’s an interesting premise and the art has been nice and clean so far. Maybe I’ll get the digital version and read it on my Iconia tablet!
