Weekly Top Ten Manga

Every week, Viz Media and the New York Times posts the top ten bestselling books. For Viz Media, it is the bestsellers on their site, Vizmanga.com. The New York Times gets their numbers of print sales from retailers. Offered here is a listing of these books with their status this week compared with the previous week, and some way-off analysis of the activity.

Well, what a surprise. New shonen releases take over the list, and they are all at top. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 1 debuts respectably at #3 as does Time Killers, Kazue Kato’s short story collection. The three shojo titles on the list bunch together in the middle with what is third-to-last volume of Library Wars, and the final volume of Dawn of the Arcana. Seraph of the End‘s second volume debut was able to bring back the first volume for a repeat charting.

The top two titles remain unchanged from last week, and that’s great news for One Piece! Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds holding on is a little less of a shock. Seven Seas Entertainment makes a good showing with 2 titles charting; Mayo Chiki, a male gaze title, and Alice in the Country of Clover, a female gaze title. Equal gaze time at last! Kodansha does well with their new title Noragami charting in its first week and Attack on Titan: No Regrets returns.
