Weekly Top Ten Manga

Every week, Viz Media and the New York Times posts the top ten bestselling books. For Viz Media, it is the bestsellers on their site, Vizmanga.com. The New York Times gets their numbers of print sales from retailers. Offered here is a listing of these books with their status this week compared with the previous week, and some way-off analysis of the activity.

  10. Deadman Wonderland Vol 5     ↓ 9

Well, that’s quite a reversal of fortune for Deadman Wonderland vol 5. From #1 to #10 in one week. The continuing Obata sale has again made itself felt on the list with All You Need is Kill taking over the top two spots, and Bakuman switching out vol 1 for vol 2. Naruto keeps swimming around these titles, just waiting for it to end so it can try to retake #1. New Select titles hit the middle of the list with newcomer Mad Love Chase, another former Tokyopop title joining Suki and Trinity Blood. The anime of World Trigger seems to have put some steam back in it as both vol 1 and 2 make the list.

Seven Seas does extremely well with the first volume of No Game No Life debuting at #1. Their other title, Haganai also debuts in the top 5. Viz gets one debut title with Deadman Wonderland vol 5 coming at #7. You can tell when it’s getting close to the holidays. That’s when the first volume of Black Butler usually makes its return to the list. It’s also great to see Happy Marriage, a josei title make it two weeks in a row!
