New Natsume Ono Series Has Air of Mystery

October 6, 2015

Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine announced in their October issue that Natsumo Ono would be premiering a new series in its pages in the November issue titled Lady and Oldman.

Lady and OldmanThe series is set to take place in Los Angeles in the 1960s. A pair know as “Lady and Oldman” wander the streets, where they stumble onto cases, sometimes getting caught up in them, and sometimes finding solutions.

This series sounds really intriguing, and might have a mystery/detective air. The historical aspect of it being set in the 1960s is appealing as well. The promo pic for the series, definitely has a sixties feel, mostly mid-to-late sixties by the look of Lady’s attire. A touch of espionage wouldn’t be bad either. Spies were popular sixties fare.

Natsume Ono has had several titles published here in the west, mostly by Viz Media, and I’ve enjoyed several of them. House of Five Leaves, Gente, and Restaurant Paradiso are among my favorites. Hopefully this series will do well and will be licensed. It would even more awesome if it got a Jump Start! preview. Ultra Jump is still close enough to Shonen Jump, right?
