October 27, 2015

It was announced in the 12th volume of the manga adaptation of the light novel series Spice and Wolf would be starting its final arc in the next volume.

Spice and Wolf 12jThe series is adapted by Keito Koume and has been running in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Maoh magazine since 2007. The light novel series on which it is based finished in 2011 with 16 volumes. The series is released in the west by Yen Press. It is about traveling merchant Lawrence who picks up the harvest goddess Holo from a village. Holo, a giant wolf in human form, wants to go North, to her home. Lawrence agrees in exchange for some prosperity, but she also brings him unwanted attention from the Church.

I’m kind of sad to hear this. I’ve really been enjoying the Spice and Wolf manga. I put off reading it for a while, since I heard not-so-favorable reviews of the light novel series. But after reading the manga, I was hooked, and am considering reading the light novels. I’ve really enjoyed Lawrence and Holo’s relationship in the manga, and will miss them when it’s done. But maybe that won’t be for a few more volumes.
