Weekly Top Ten Manga

Every week, the New York Times and Amazon posts the top ten bestselling books. The New York Times gets their numbers from print sales from retailers, while Amazon and Vizmanga.com calculates their own numbers. Once a month the Nielsen Bookscan posts their top twenty graphic novels of which manga is included. Offered here is a listing of these books with their status this week compared with the previous week, and some way-off analysis of the activity.

Tokyo Ghoul Vol 3 and 1 get together while Vol 2 holds it’s ground. It hasn’t gotten with the program yet. Naruto has as Vol 72 and Kakashi’s Story line up. While Uzumaki and the only non-Viz Media title, Junji Ito’s Cat Diary: Yon & Mu from Kodansha make a pair as Uzumaki is also by Junji Ito. It’s a full house vs two pairs!

Naruto 722. Naruto Vol 72
4. Tokyo Ghoul Vol 1
5. Tokyo Ghoul Vol 3
6. Tokyo Ghoul Vol 2
19. One-Punch Man Vol 1

Manga lost two spots on the top 20 last month, dropping Attack on Titan completely, and giving Viz Media dominance here too. Naruto returned to the top with Vol 72 hitting the highest spot at #2, but Tokyo Ghoul is right behind, with all three print volumes lining up the growing popular 1-3-2 order. One-Punch Man Vol 1, which was in the top ten last month drops down to just short of the bottom at #19. Perhaps the release of Vol 3 will redeem it and move it back up to join the other Viz Media titles on the list.
