Every week, the New York Times and Amazon posts the top ten bestselling books. The New York Times gets their numbers from print sales from retailers, while Amazon and Vizmanga.com calculates their own numbers. Once a month the Nielsen Bookscan posts their top twenty graphic novels of which manga is included. Offered here is a listing of these books with their status this week compared with the previous week, and some way-off analysis of the activity.

New York Times Bestseller List for the week ending December 5, 2015
Assassination Classroom Vol 7 ∗- Ancient Magus’ Bride Vol 3 ∗
- Food Wars Vol 9 ∗
- One-Punch Man Vol 1 ↓ 3
- Tokyo Ghoul Vol 1 ↓ 3
- Tokyo Ghoul Vol 3 ↓ 1
- Seraph of the End Vol 7 ∗
- Tokyo Ghoul Vol 2 ↓ 5
- Attack on Titan Vol 1 ↵ 116
- Naruto Vol 72 ↓ 2
One-Punch Man and Tokyo Ghoul lose their stranglehold on the top five as debut titles take over the top three spots. Assassination Classroom Vol 7 takes over from One-Punch Man vol 1 while the first non-Viz Media title, Seven Seas’ Ancient Magus’ Bride Vol 3 takes over the second spot. Food Wars Vol 9 comes in third, leaving One-Punch Man vol 1 and Tokyo Ghoul vol 1 to round out the top five. The only other non-Viz Media title is the return of the titanic Attack on Titan vol 1 which has now seen 116 total weeks on the list, and with more holiday shopping to be done, I expect it will rack up a few more.

Amazon.com for the week ending December 12, 2015

Things don’t change as much here. The top four spots remain unchanged with One-Punch Man and Tokyo Ghoul staying the course. Pokemon Adventures Red & Blue Box Set upset things slightly by capturing the #5 spot, sending Tokyo Ghoul Vol 3 and 4 back down. Rounding out the list is the return of two familiar titles, the Legend of Zelda Box Set, and Fairy Tail Vol 1, which also breaks the all-Viz Media list from last week.
