Every week, the New York Times and Amazon posts the top ten bestselling books. The New York Times gets their numbers from print sales from retailers, while Amazon calculates their own numbers. Once a month the Nielsen Bookscan posts their top twenty graphic novels of which manga is included. Offered here is a listing of these books with their status this week compared with the previous week, along with some way-off analysis of the activity.

New York Times Bestseller List for the week ending January 16, 2016

One-Punch Man controls the list this week, with all four volumes hanging on, including the newest, Vol 4 holding on to the top spot for the second week in a row. The new Naruto does the same, hanging on to #2. Tokyo Ghoul Vol 1 makes a return as it inches closer to 8 months on the list. Naruto Vol 72 returns as well, with only half as many weeks. Two new titles debut after all the debuts from last week have fallen off; Blue Exorcist Vol 14, and the only non-Viz Media title, Seven Seas Entertainment’s My Monster Secret Vol 1, a new monster girl title.

Nothing new breaches the Amazon list this week. One-Punch Man continues to hold the top three spots. Naruto makes some inroads as The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring moves up one, while Vol 72 returns at #8. Tokyo Ghoul fills the rest of the gaps, with most of the volumes holding their places. Who would have thought ninjas, ghouls, and bald superheroes would have such an impact?
