Manga Xanadu

Diamond Distributors is really sticking it to Viz Media. This is the second week of no titles from the publisher coming through the Direct Market. Viz releases their shonen and shojo titles on the first Tuesday of the month, which was last week. This week rolls around, and it is as sparse as green is in California lawns.  Maybe next week will be better.

It seems early in the month for Yen Press to be sending out its wave of titles, but I guess with February being a short month, even with the extra day, things are still thrown off a bit. There’s a sprinkling of titles from other publishers, but this week, it’s all about Yen Press.

It’s a strong release list this week as Kodansha, Seven Seas, and Vertical debut new titles. Digital titles make a strong showing with Yen Press dropping several new chapters and volumes of digital only titles.

It’s another light week, but the publishers are spread around better than last week, including one we don’t see often. That also doesn’t mean your wallet is any safer as there are some debut titles and omnibuses that may have to grace your shelves.

This week’s releases are bottom heavy with publishers from the last half of the alphabet, but light on releases overall. Most only have one or two volumes coming out.

It’s the first Wednesday of the month, so that means Viz Media rains down with all their shonen and shojo releases. Smartly, other publishers keep their releases to a minimum. It’s hard to go against the Viz Shonen juggernaut.

It’s a Yen Press Week with the bulk of the publisher’s print titles coming out. Trying to stay above this wave is Kodansha Comics and Vertical Comics with a few strong titles, while digital releases keep up their fairly steady pace.

Print is skimpy on releases, but digital only releases help to fill the gaps. While digital is fast and convenient, print still has the titles I’m looking for.

It’s the start of a new year, and that means new titles debuting from Seven Seas Entertainment, Vertical Comics and Viz Media Digital.

The first week of 2016 starts out with a lot of old favorites and a few new ones.

It’s the last release week of the year, and publishers are pulling out all the stops with releases galore for readers to spend Christmas money and gift cards on.

It’s not much of a week for print manga from Diamond. Kodansha and Seven Seas Entertainment are the only ones releasing anything, and none of them are anything I’m reading. Thank goodness for the growth of digital manga!
