Weekly Top Ten Manga

Every week, the New York Times and Amazon posts the top ten bestselling books. The New York Times gets their numbers from print sales from retailers, while Amazon and Vizmanga.com calculates their own numbers. Once a month the Nielsen Bookscan posts their top twenty graphic novels of which manga is included. Offered here is a listing of these books with their status this week compared with the previous week, and some way-off analysis of the activity.

One-Punch Man Vol 1, a previously digital-only title, not only debuts in print at the top of this week’s list, the second volume of the series comes in right behind it. Following behind this new superhero is Tokyo Ghoul, which also has both of its available volumes coming in one right after the other. Naruto Vol 71, part of the old guard, caps the top five at #5. Attack on Titan Vol 16, the previous top title, falls the most, 6 spots to land at #7, while its progenitor, Vol 1 moves back up a spot. Yen Press survives only with its light novel Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon Vol 2, while Monster Musume Vol 7, from Seven Seas Entertainment just holds on for its 4th week. While Viz still dominates with 6 spots, Kodansha, Yen Press and Seven Seas Entertainment do keep their presence known.

My Hero Academia Vol 1 is the only good manga on either of those 2 lists.
