It’s the last release week of the year, and publishers are pulling out all the stops with releases galore for readers to spend Christmas money and gift cards on.

Dark Horse sees the return of a series we haven’t seen a volume of since March of last year. Blood-C finishes out the year with the fourth and final volume of the series as well. Kodansha Comics debuts two new titles, Die Wergelder Volume 1, the new series from the creator of Blade of the Immortal, and the Fairy Tale spin-off Ice Trail Volume 1, which is about the ice wizard Grey. Don’t forget to pick up the latest volume of Vinland Saga Volume 7, if you hadn’t pre-ordered it already. This will be the last if sales are as good as the previous volume.

Digital makes a strong showing as well, with one debut from Viz Media, Momogumi Plus Senki Volume 1, and Yen Press with three titles, Aoharu X Machinegun Volume 1, The Black Detective Volume 1, and Saki Volume 1. Light novel fans can pick up the serialized chapters of Baccano!, from the same creator as the Durarara!! light novels and manga.

With such a bounty, it’s hard to choose. I definitely want The Black Detective and Saki from Yen Press. At $2.99, I’ll gladly check them out. I also want Fairy Tale Ice Trail, and Vinland Saga. That is such a great series. Like A Bride’s Story, it’s well researched and beautifully written. It would be a crime if it didn’t continue in English.
