
Every week, the New York Times and Amazon posts the top ten bestselling books. The New York Times gets their numbers from print sales from retailers, while Amazon calculates their own numbers. Once a month the Nielsen Bookscan posts their top twenty graphic novels of which manga is included. Offered here is a listing of these books with their status this week compared with the previous week, along with some commentary on the activity.

It’s the Attack of the Newcomers! The list was practically wiped clean and a whole ton of new titles have taken over. The latest Tokyo Ghoul vol 6 taking the top spot isn’t a big surprise. The number of Yen On light novels kind of is though. Four of the seven debuts are light novels, including new series The Irregular at Magic High School Vol 1, and the final volume of Spice and Wolf Vol 17. A Silent Voice from Kodansha finally makes it to the list with its penultimate vol 6.

Change isn’t anywhere near as drastic at Amazon this week. Tokyo Ghoul Vol 6 continues to hold on to the top spot. One-Punch Man Vol 6 and My Hero Academia Vol 4 make their debuts as their release date looms near. Attack on Titan vol 18 holds on, though it continues to fall down, while Tokyo Ghoul Vol 3 and One-Punch Man Vol 2 make comebacks, keeping them and Viz Media in dominance.
