PR: Yen Press Joins Kadokawa’s Book Walker

It shouldn’t be any kind of surprise that Yen Press showed up on Book Walker. They have had a relationship with parent company Kadokawa for quite some time.  I just wonder why it took so long for it too happen. I would think the hold back was on the Yen Press/Hachette side, since more titles on Book Walker can only be a good thing. Well, at least they’re here now.

July 1, 2016 – BookWalker’s selection of digital manga and light novels is now even bigger than ever with the addition of over 600 volumes of manga and light novels in English from Yen Press. The first batch of titles include new, popular and best-selling series including Sword Art Online, Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Overlord, Black Butler, and Baccano!, with more to be added in the weeks to come.

Featured new releases now available on BookWalker:

Is It Wrong to Pickup Girls in a Dungeon? by Fujino Omori, illustrations by Suzuhito Yasuda, manga by Kunieda (light novels volumes 1-5, and manga volumes 1-5)

In Orario, fearless adventurers band together in search of fame and fortune within the monstrous underground labyrinth known as Dungeon. But while riches and renown are incentive enough for most, Bell Cranel, would-be hero extraordinaire, has bigger plans.

He wants to pick up girls.

Is it wrong to face the perils of Dungeon alone, in a single-member guild blessed by a failed goddess? Maybe. Is it wrong to dream of playing hero to hapless maidens in Dungeon? Maybe not. After one misguided adventure, Bell quickly discovers that anything can happen in the labyrinth–even chance encounters with beautiful women. The only problem? He’s the one who winds up the damsel in distress!

Overlord by Kugane Maruyama, manga by Satoshi Oshio (light novel volume 1, and manga volumes 1)

For twelve years, the virtual world of Yggdrasil has served as the playground and battlefield for the skeletal lord Momonga and his guild of fellow monsters, Ainz Ooal Gown. But the guild’s glory days are over, and the game is shutting down permanently. When Momonga logs in one last time just to be there when the servers go dark, something happens–and suddenly, fantasy is reality. A rogues’ gallery of fanatically devoted NPCs is ready to obey his every order, but the world Momonga now inhabits is not the one he remembers. The game may be over, but the epic tale of Ainz Ooal Gown is only beginning…

Baccano! by Ryohgo Narita (light novel volume 1)

The latest English light novel release from the creator of Durarara!!

New York, 1931. The manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited by law, but behind this prohibition, organized crime flourishes-so, too, do bank robbers, bootleggers, assassins, and homunculi. Some want money, some are chasing the secret to immortality, and others just want to have a really good time. You know what they say, though: You can’t always get what you want.

Kurt Hassler, Yen Press Publisher & Managing Director had this to say about Yen Press titles making their debut on BookWalker Global:

“BookWalker’s unique dedication to making digital editions of manga and light novels easily available to fans internationally has been something that Yen Press has been keen to be a part of for years. We could not be more grateful to have this opportunity to expand our digital reach with BookWalker on the heels of our recent joint venture restructuring with KADOKAWA and Hachette Book Group, and we look forward to collaborating closely with the dedicated team at BookWalker to find new and exciting ways for fans to interact with Japanese content globally.”

Yoichi Yasumoto, CEO of BookWalker also observed that the addition of Yen Press manga and light novels is yet another way that BookWalker Global is gearing up to match the market-leading performance of the BookWalker Japan eBook store:

“With the addition of Yen Press titles by so many wonderful authors from an array of publishers, we are very excited to not only deliver more content to our readers, but offer a more diverse lineup of titles to them too. In Japan, our readers are really into light novels, so we are very happy to make the same titles that are popular with fans in Japan more accessible to English speaking readers. This is also a big step for us, and next time we will increase our lineup even further.”
