Weekly Top Ten – September 26, 2015

Weekly Top Ten Manga

Every week, the New York Times and Amazon posts the top ten bestselling books. The New York Times gets their numbers from print sales from retailers, while Amazon and Vizmanga.com calculates their own numbers. Once a month the Nielsen Bookscan posts their top twenty graphic novels of which manga is included. Offered here is a listing of these books with their status this week compared with the previous week, and some way-off analysis of the activity.

New York times Bestseller List for the week ending September 19, 2015

  1. TokyoGhoul-GN01Tokyo Ghoul Vol 1     ↑ 3
  2. One-Punch Man Vol 1     ↓ 1
  3. The Ancient Magus’ Bride Vol 2     ↑ 2
  4. Monster Musume Vol 7     ↑ 2
  5. Tokyo Ghoul Vol 2     ↓ 2
  6. Seraph of the End Vol 6     ↑ 4
  7. Attack on Titan Vol 16     ↔ 1
  8. Nisekoi: False Love Vol 11     ↑ 1
  9.  Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal Vol 7     ↓ 1
  10. Attack on Titan Vol 1     ↵ 113

There’s lot of jockeying for position this week, but no new releases debut, just the return of an old friend. Tokyo Ghoul Vol 1 retakes the top spot, while One-Punch Man Vol 1 holds the no. 2 spot but loses’ its sidekick, Vol 2. Seven Seas entertainment’s two title both move up, taking the next two spots in the top five. Kodansha represents with Attack on Titan Vol 16, while Vol 1 returns at no. 10. It just isn’t the same, seeing a week go by with it somewhere on there.

Amazon.com for the week ending September 26, 2015

  1. One Punch Man 01One-Punch Man Vol 1     ↔ 2
  2. Naruto Vol 72     ↑ 2
  3. One-Punch Man Vol 2     ↓ 1

  8. Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin Vol 11
  9. Attack on Titan Vol 1
  10. Attack on Titan Vol 16     ↓ 3

One-Punch Man Vol 1 keeps its hold on the top spot here, with the final Naruto Vol 72 sandwiched between it and vol 2. Tokyo Ghoul Vol 1-3 line up nicely, like ducks in a row while Monster Musume Vol 7 makes its return at no. 7. Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin Vol 11, the final volume, debuts this week having only just missed making it last week. While the Attack on Titan volumes get together at the bottom. I think they’re plotting something.
