Weekly Top Ten Manga

Every week, the New York Times and Amazon posts the top ten bestselling books. The New York Times gets their numbers from print sales from retailers, while Amazon and Vizmanga.com calculates their own numbers. Once a month the Nielsen Bookscan posts their top twenty graphic novels of which manga is included. Offered here is a listing of these books with their status this week compared with the previous week, and some way-off analysis of the activity.

New York Times Bestseller List for the week ending October 17, 2015

Not much changed from last week, except for Yen Press being kicked off the list completely. Viz Media, the current dominating force now holds 9 spots while Kodansha was able to get 1 title to chart. Naruto Vol 72 keeps its place at the top while Deadman Wonderland Vol 11 debuts at #2. The Tokyo Ghouls in print get together again, while One-Punch Man Vol 1 hangs on the edge. The biggest fall came from Food Wars Vol 8 as it drops 6 spots, while Noragami Vol 7, Kodansha’s newest hit fights its way onto the list, coming in at #9.

At Amazon.com, the list is reversed, with Kodansha not having a title in the top ten, while Yen Press keeps Sword Art Online Progressive Novel Vol 3 and it even moves up the list one place. Otherwise, it is another Viz Media lock down, with Tokyo Ghoul Vol 3 switching spots  with Naruto Vol 72, giving it the top spot. One-Punch Man lines up with three volumes in a row as the pre-order for Vol 3 charts. Tokyo Ghoul reverses order as Vol 1 and 2 trade places and sets a record of Attack on Titan proportions as Vol 4 joins the list. Uzumaki is really enjoying a surge from the holiday season as it only drops one place.
