Weekly Top Ten Manga

Every week, the New York Times and Amazon posts the top ten bestselling books. The New York Times gets their numbers from print sales from retailers, while Amazon calculates their own numbers. Once a month the Nielsen Bookscan posts their top twenty graphic novels of which manga is included. Offered here is a listing of these books with their status this week compared with the previous week, along with some way-off analysis of the activity.

  10. Magika Swordsman and the Summoner Vol 3     ↓ 5

There is a new top title with the print debut of Tokyo Ghoul Vol 5, which should come as a surprise to nobody. It’s debut at the top pushes last week’s #1 Monster Musume Vol 8 down one, but monster girls stick together. Debuting at #3 is 12 Beast Vol 3. Also debuting from Seven Seas Entertainment is Dragonar Academy Vol 9, which just misses the top 5. Tokyo Ghoul Vol 1, One-Punch Man Vol 1 and One Piece Vol 77 all hold on to their previous spots from last week. With Magika Swordsman and the Summoner Vol 3 hanging on the list at #10, Seven Seas single-handedly nearly cuts Viz Media’s hold on the list in half! And it’s mostly thanks to monster girls.
