San Diego Comic Con is this week! What news will publishers bring us this year? They bring out some good volumes for those of us not attending the Geek-fest. Kodansha has more former-Del REy titles. Udon Entertainment finishes their final kid’s line title. Viz releases a new Natsume Ono title, La Quinta Camera: The Fifth Room, and Yen rounds things off with the last of the July releases.

In the week before San Diego Comic Con, the list is smaller, but there are still some great books coming out. Viz releases their Shonen Sunday line, as well as the long-awaited Pokemon Black and White. Yen Press releases a few titles including the next High School of the Dead, and Bandai has a one shot with the Code Geass spin-off, Alternate Shogunate.

It’s like a flashback to the good old days! Lots of publishers with a wide variety of books! Dark Horse continues their re-release of early CLAMP titles with the first omnibus of Magic Knight Rayearth. Kodansha fills the hole left by Del Rey nicely  as more of the latters titles come out, and Viz has its usual barrage of shonen and shojo titles this week.

Tokyopop makes a surprise return with what is probably their last round of titles. Kodansha completes the former Del Rey Manga title Negima Neo and continues Air Gear, and Yen Press releases their round of manga including new Spice and Wolf manga and the second volume of the now infamous Sasameke.

Tokyopop gets its last hurrah this week as some last few titles that must have already been at the printer come out. Though if you didn’t pre-order them through Diamond, getting them might be a problem, as most online sites don’t show them available. But keep your eyes peeled! Kodansha releases something old and something new, while Viz releases something borrowed from CMX in the form of an uncut Tenjo Tenge. Something blue? DMP and their BL titles dominate the list this week, something that doesn’t happen very often. But if BL isn’t your thing, Seven Seas releases their next new title while Viz brings out some Shonen Sunday titles. Or you can go in the complete opposite direction and pick up Strawberry Panic the Complete Novel Collection from Seven Seas for some Yuri fun.

Viz rains down their Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat titles this week, including the new 3-in-1s for Bleach, Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist. Kodansha has some more releases, including some old Del Rey titles and the new license for Ghost in the Shell: SAC. And the Doctor is in again as Veritcal releases the next Black Jack volume.

It’s a quiet week this week with only one title coming out.  Jason Thompson gets all the attention for his second volume of King of RPGs. So, with no real competition, our reviewers take a look at a genre of manga: sports.

Now this is a new releases list! Lot’s of different publishers are releasing lots of different titles. Bandai debuts it’s new title, Kannagi, which has been a big hit in Japan. Will it be in the US as well? And for once, it’s not based on an anime! Dark Horse continues it’s mature title Ghost Talker’s Daydream, and DMP has a rare non-yaoi manga with the second volume of Fafner: Dead Aggressor. The big news this week though is the debut of Kodansha, which is starting out with the return of several popular Del Rey titles, and Yen Press releases its most anticipated title so far this year, which also sweeps our picks. This short of a list also seems to get a short list of recommendations from our reviewers, but definitely don’t write off these titles. Dark Horse hits both sides of the spectrum with the Korean shojo Bride of the Water God and the violent horror that is Gantz. Viz releases more from their Signature line, and one of Tokyopop’s last hurrahs ties into their recently released movie Priest.
